Perrysburg Rotarian Jack Sculfort has been named the Executive Director of the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation (PRCF), effective September 1, 2024. The Executive Director position is new, and he will serve in that capacity on a part-time basis.
Mr. Sculfort has been a member of the Perrysburg Rotary Club since 1996 and has served as an elected Trustee of the Foundation since 2000. He has been the Chair or the acting Chair of the PRCF Board of Trustees for more than 12 years. Mr. Sculfort resigned his position as Chair and member of the PRCF Board in order to become the Foundation’s Executive Director. Current PRCF Trustee Richard Sipp was nominated to fill the role of the Foundation Chair. Both positions were voted on and approved by the PRCF Board of Trustees at their August 23 meeting.
Mr. Sculfort’s professional experience includes his current role as President of Tactics & Options, LLC, a consulting company established in 1993 that provides asset management and business planning services for corporate clients. He has held executive positions for clients in various industries including positions as CEO, CFO, COO, and GM. Previously he was Chief Operating Officer for Dillin LLC when they developed Levis Commons.
In addition to his involvement with the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation and Club, Mr.Sculfort has served on many community boards including President of the Way Library Foundation, Chair of the Owens Community College Board of Trustees, Board member and Finance Committee Chair for The Maritime Academy of Toledo, and Trustee for The Toledo Hospital Foundation among others.
New PRCF Board Chair Richard Sipp has been a member of the Perrysburg Rotary Club since 1985 and has served as both President of the Club and as a PRCF Trustee. He also offers a great deal of professional experience including over 40 years of operations and strategic planning experience in academic and healthcare organizations. He currently serves as the Special Assistant for Program and Curriculum Development in the Department of Public and Allied Health at Bowling Green State University and has served on numerous charitable boards throughout greater Perrysburg.
“Jack Sculfort is the right person to fill this new role of Executive Director of our Foundation,” says Mr. Sipp. “He is greatly invested in our community, our Rotary Club and the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation. His business experience, strategic planning capabilities, and leadership roles will serve us and the community quite well.”
The “Go-To Community Foundation”
The Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation was established in 1984 as a 501(c)3 charity. All members of the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees are Perrysburg Rotary Club members in good standing who are individually elected to a three (3) year term by Perrysburg Rotary Club members. The Foundation is governed by its Declaration of Trust and Code of Regulations.
The Perrysburg Rotary Club, with more than 100 members, serves the Foundation as its Corporate Member. The Club initiates grant requests for charitable projects subject to Club and Foundation board approval.
PRCF’s Vision is to become the “go-to” Community Foundation in greater Perrysburg and Northern Wood County, and Mr. Sculfort will lead the Foundation in that direction. “We are the sole community foundation focusing on the Perrysburg area,” says Mr. Sculfort. “We support other community non-profits such as the Way Public Library, the 577 Foundation, the Country Garden Club, and the Owens Community College and Perrysburg School Foundations, the Perrysburg Area Historical Museum, Hospice and many others.
“We are most proud of our commitment to Perrysburg Rotary Community Park, our Legacy project, which we created in an ingoing partnership with the City of Perrysburg. Through this partnership we have already committed more than $1.0 million to help the Park grow and evolve into the premier recreational gathering place of greater Perrysburg.”
Seeking Grant Requests & Donors
In addition to its committed contributions to the Park project, The Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation currently has more than $1 million in uncommitted endowed funds as a result of many years of fundraising efforts and generous contributions by Rotarians and their friends, neighbors and colleagues. Each year the Foundation earmarks 5% of the total endowed funds to contribute to area projects. “We are always looking for ways to improve our community through ideas and grant requests from local residents,” says Mr. Sculfort.
In addition to seeking grant requests, the Perrysburg Rotary Community Foundation is seeking contributions by offering Donor Advised Funds and Donor Directed funds for contributors. In addition, the Foundation provides community members with avenues to contribute via planned giving, bequests, life insurance policies, one-time gifts, or sustained giving.
